January Man

I am maintaining a running film log for 2011 on Mubi.com. Mubi.com is a tremendous site that hosts hundreds of obscure feature films, a blog, viewer lists, and well written and conceived essays.

I viewed the following films this month: Valhalla Rising, Green Zone, Narc, 28 Weeks Later, Outland, The Descent, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, Domino, Zombieland, Black Book, Be Here to Love Me: A Film About Townes Van Zandt, Survival of the Dead, Miami Vice, Sorcerer, The Orphanage, Pusher, Pusher II, Pan's Labyrinth, and The Killer Inside Me.

This is what I have been doing while APTers have been surfing the coach watching Brett Favre throw INT's.

The latest in Bizarro weirdness....

You may have heard of Industrial music pioneers Pychic TV and Throbbing Gristle. There is a new documentary coming out and it tells the story of the front(man?) and his wife. Appropriately enough it debuts at the Berlin Film Festival.

Wow....

Peace

Coenfographic

The Muller made graphic awesomeness (here) featuring the Brothers Coen Movielogue is considerabley more sublime than the real life rendering of said brothers (above). I promise.

Favorite Coen film? Go.

Robyn

Portland people best be checking out Robyn, coming live to the State Theater in Portland, Maine later this month on January 29th. This chick rocks, dropping heavy, pop-fused lyrics with synth-loaded melodies, over booming bass and drums. She'll be fist pumping with the crowd the whole time. Get your tickets early, as all the tight jean-wearing hipsters and angry chicks will be on the scene first, leaving you all alone on a Saturday night. Don't miss this one. Dr. D would trade a powder day for this one, but it's not an option. Apparently Robyn thinks Denver's the pits. She's only hitting up the East Coast!

Peter Yates, Jordan McCabe

RIP.

His directorial credits include W2 favorite Krull and Roomie Rock's top choice the Mcqueen driven Bullitt.

Get more at Slashfilm.

And, get a load of future Celtic Jordan McCabe. Nice handles son.

King-Sized Plate

Elvis Aaron Presley would have turned seventy-six today.

In his honor and the spirit of excess, we threw together some BBQ.

Feast your eyes on Little Sisters Baby Back Ribs, Hunk-a-Burning Beans, Suspicious 'Slaw, and finally Love Me Biscuits.

"Girls, I'll see y'all back stage."
